Where does it come from?
Decyl cocoate is sourced from coconut oil, a natural oil extracted from the kernel or meat of mature coconuts. The fatty acids obtained from coconut oil undergo a chemical process called esterification, where they react with decyl alcohol to form decyl cocoate. This process results in a substance that maintains the moisturizing benefits of coconut oil while being more stable and less greasy.
Moisturizing: It acts as an excellent emollient, helping to soften and smooth the skin by reducing water loss from the outer layers.
Non-Greasy Feel: Unlike some oils, decyl cocoate provides a silky, non-greasy finish, making it ideal for formulations that aim to feel lightweight on the skin.
