Active Ingredient.

Active ingredients deliver targeted benefits and results to the skin and hair and have been proven effective in various studies. They are the "workhorses" of our formulations, responsible for addressing specific skin concerns, such as acne, aging, hyperpigmentation, or dryness. They do this by penetrating the skin's surface, binding to receptors, altering skin processes, or providing a protective barrier. All of our active ingredients originate from nature.

Texturing Agent.

Texturing agents are ingredients added to skincare products to influence their texture, consistency, and sensory attributes. These agents play a crucial role in defining how our products feel upon application, its spreadability, and its overall user experience. They help to achieve the desired product performance and aesthetics, enhancing the appeal and effectiveness of our products.

Emulsifier.

An emulsifier is an ingredient added to an emulsion formula that helps mix two or more liquids that typically do not blend well, such as oil and liquid. In skincare formulations, emulsifiers are crucial for creating stable products like creams and other emulsions. Without emulsifiers, these products would separate into their individual oil and liquid components, resulting in an uneven and ineffective formulation.

Preservative.

Preservatives are ingredients added to skincare and cosmetic products to protect them from microorganisms such as bacteria, mold, and yeast. They play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and efficacy of these products by extending their shelf life and ensuring they remain free from harmful contaminants throughout their use. At OLIVEDA, we do not use harmful preservatives. Our products are made every 3 months and we don’t add oxidizing water.

Amino Acid.

Amino acids are organic compounds that serve as the building blocks of proteins, which are essential for various biological functions. In skincare, amino acids are valued for their ability to support and enhance the health and appearance of the skin. They play a critical role in maintaining the skin's structure, hydration, and overall function.

Aromatic Compound.

At OLIVEDA, we only use aromatic compounds or fragrances derived from natural origins. Our aromatic compounds or fragrances are compositions of essential oils derived from plants. The specific blend of ingredients in a fragrance is often considered a trade secret. Natural origin fragrances, the category used at OLIVEDA, are derived from plant materials, such as flowers, fruits, herbs, and spices, through processes like distillation or extraction. Our products use up to 21 unique essential oils listed under the legally prescribed collective term “parfum” in the EU and “fragrance” in the US.
